How to Tie an FG Knot

Steps

1. Tension the braid

Keep the braided line tight (wrap around finger or rod).

2. Position the leader

Lay the leader across the braid at a 90° angle.

3. Weave the braid

Wrap braid over and under the leader, alternating each time.

➡ Do 15–25 wraps

4. Tighten

Pull both braid ends to cinch the wraps tight onto the leader.

5. Lock with half hitches

Tie 3–5 half hitches using the braid around both lines.

6. Trim leader tag

Cut the leader tag end as close as possible.

7. Finish

Tie 3–5 more half hitches around the braid only.

Tips for Strength

• Keep constant tension the entire time

• Make tight, even wraps (no gaps)

• Wet knot before final tightening

• Pull hard to test before use
